Tahawus Trails LLC offers a full range of trail-related services for land trusts, parks, municipalities, schools, developers, stewardship organizations, and private landowners to improve and develop access to natural areas.
Our specialty is natural surface and crushed stone surfaced pedestrian and multi-use trails. However, we have built or improved equestrian, Accessible, ski, bike, and off road Vehicle trails.
Our services include trail assessments, master plans, feasibility studies, workshops, community collaborations, project and construction management, design, and minimal impact construction and rehabilitation, including stone or timber work , hand and — as appropriate — mechanized construction. We offer conventional contracted construction services using professional trail personnel or can work as advisors with your staff and community volunteers by providing technical oversight, consultations, and supervision services on all types of trail projects.

About our name:
Tahawus (pronounced Ta-Haws) is a Seneca language word for “Cloudsplitter” also the first Caucasian name given to what is now known as Mount Marcy, New York’s tallest mountain in the Adirondacks, the mountains where the many of our of crew first learned trail skills.
